October!

Here are some more October photos... We have been working hard and have been very busy.  Last week was Lollipop Day and all of the Kindergarten classes participated.  Unfortunately,  I won't be able to put those pictures up as there are other children in them.  Don't worry though, there will be great Halloween shots coming!

We are punching the first sound of the picture with hole punchers.

Mrs. McCabe was playing "One More Than, One Less Than" with ghosts and haunted houses.

We are making giant Jack-O-Lanterns to practice our cutting skills!

Our wireless headphones allow us to go anywhere in the room to listen to stories.

A Look Inside the Classroom

It's been a busy place here in Room 011.  We are working on naming letters and sounds and learning the numbers 1-10.  We have been practicing our routines and getting more independent each day.  Here's some recent shots of the class.

Columbus Day

We will be celebrating Columbus Day on Monday with a no school day.  Today the students and I talked about Columbus and what he did.  We looked at the world map and examined the route he thought he was taking and the route that he really did take.  We read a book called "1492" and also watched a short video about Christopher Columbus.

Our art activity was to create Columbus's 3 boats- The Nina, The Pinta, and The Santa Maria.  Here is our awesome artwork.

Have a great long weekend!

Welcome October

October comes and it's time to get down to some serious work.  The kids and I have gotten to know each other much better and classroom expectations are clear.  We have been working on numbers 1-5 and the letters/sounds of the alphabet.  We talked about apples and even tasted some apples without the skin.  Yellow was the most favorite kind during the blind taste test.  The results of our favorites can be found on this tree display.

We also made some very colorful fall trees.  If you look very closely, you might notice that the tree is made out of our hands!

We built sentences telling about our favorite color apple (before the taste test).
