Polar Express Day

It was a fabulous day in Kindergarten today.  What a way to end school before vacation.

Before the train came to pick us up, we had a moment of silence with the nation for the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary school.

After that, the train came to pick us up to take us to the North Pole where we met the conductor who read us the story of the Polar Express.

Can't believe it is December!

It's really hard to believe that we are already at December.  Report cards come out on Friday and the holiday break will be here before we know it.  We have been awfully busy working in the classroom.  I thought I would share some recent pictures of us.
We were looking for the missing lower case letters.
Here we needed to find lower case letters that matched the upper case letters.

Everyone loves the smartboard.  We were clapping beats (syllables) in words and graphing them.

We are doing a lot of sound sorts to help us distinguish between beginning sounds.

The sand table is always a fun place to play.

This is Mr. Hewitt's sister who came from England and wanted to see our classroom.

Mr. Hewitt's aunt came for a visit as well.

We love playing in the housekeeping center.

We are working on a Nursery rhyme book for our browsing box.  Kids are making Pat-A-Cake.
