Smart Board Fun

We are getting really good at using the Smart Board for all different subjects. Here are a few shots-

Recent Artwork from our Bulletin Boards

This is our snowman each unique and created totally by the students without any stencils.

These are our snow globes inspired by the story, "The Snow Globe Family"

These are cards we received while participating in the Holiday Card Exchange. We sent 24 and got 24 back from across the USA.

January is flying by!

It is really hard to believe that January is almost over. Not to mention that today was the 91'st day of school. Only 9 more until our giant 100th day celebration. I will be sending more information home about our 100 day projects that the children will complete at home. We have begun Writer's Workshop and the room has been remarkably quiet while the children are writing! We also have been becoming "SMART" board whizzes... our whole morning meeting is done interactively now. I can't wait for people to see it. I am now going to attempt to add some pictures to the blog so you can see artwork and goings ons!

Exciting News!

We were fortunate to get a Smart Board installed to our wall in the classroom. For those of you who don't know what a Smart Board is, it basically is a touch board that allows the children to interact with the program that we are working with. I plan to do our Calendar, Morning Message, Days In School count etc on it. Children will use it in small groups for a variety of activities. Stay tuned to hear more about it!

Teacher versus Students

I learned this great game at a teacher conference last year. It really isn't so much a game as a way to keep students quiet and focused on the task at hand. Basically, the students get a point for answering my question correctly. I get a point every time someone speaks out of turn or calls out, makes noise etc.. Here is our score for our first game.

The Polar Express

We had a great last day before vacation. First, We followed Mrs. Mason (the engineer) up to the Library. Mr. Cassista read us the Polar Express story and we sang a few Christmas Carols. When we got back to class, we decorated cookies to have for our afternoon treat. In the afternoon, we watched the Polar Express movie, had hot cocoa and cookies and played with shaving cream. Unbeknownst to the kids, they were helping me clean tables before vacation!

Holiday Lights

Here are pictures of the holiday lights we made. Everyone had a different pattern to create. Don't we look fabulous?
