Peep Experiments

We did a few experiments with Peeps on Friday.  Do you know what happens when you freeze a Peep overnight?  Ask your child what it was like!  We put Peeps in water, vinegar/baking soda, and Sprite.  We got to watch the chemical reactions and how the color disappeared from the Peeps. 

Can you tell what color Peep you have with your eyes closed?  No, but we tried it anyway.

ABC Countdown

Today was A for our countdown to Z and the end of school.  We examined the work of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel.  I showed the kids a virtual tour of the chapel and we talked about all of the paintings on the ceiling.  Then, you guessed it- we did our artwork on the ceiling of our desks.  The kids had a great time and I will get a picture of the work up soon.

Stone Soup

I bet you are wondering- Will Mrs. Hewitt do a play with her First graders?  The answer is yes.  However, it will be closer to the end of the year.

This year, we will be presenting Stone Soup.  Currently, we are reading many different versions of this popular folktale.  We got in partners today and read then shared with our group how our version was similar to the first we had read and how it was different.
